My local community college, Palm Beach Community College, actually uses the structurally correct domain, pbcc.cc.fl.us.  I've just added them to my "Domain Hall of Fame" for correct use of the domain name system. In contrast, the county government has undergone a move towards dumbness by changing their web address from the logical co.palm-beach.fl.us to the "commercial" pbcgov.com.  They've made it to my "Hall of Shame", along with the state of Florida and its "myflorida.com" that replaced the logical state.fl.us.  The state of Pennsylvania, however, has made my "Hall of Fame" for not only using the logical state.pa.us address, but even promoting it on its license plates.
