Subject: ICAAN want a decent solution to the .info problem

I have to say that from my own exchanges with the ICAAN board, I believe they are acting in good faith, in a difficult situation. I am absolutely convinced they want a resolution to this PR disaster, and - no - I don't think they are interested in a financial gain from this situation. They are playing a far bigger game, with Congress breathing down their necks, and an almost impossible combination of pressures of burgeoning new TLDs etc. The last thing they want or need is bad PR at a time like this, and if they can get a just and fair resolution to the whole situation (which is still possible) then they will.

The real issue is whether Afilias will act independently of what ICAAN advises or indicates.

But I'm sorry to sound out of step with some people - I believe in the integrity of some of the key players on the ICAAN board - specifically Vint Cerf himself, Stuart Lynn and Dan Halloran.
