Barring few exceptions, we all
agreed that DomeBase propoasal was the most reasonable way to break the impass without
hurting any segment of Internet stakeholders, except fraud artists. But, Afilias
in their own wisdom have chosen to ignore it and it doesn't look like they are going
to accept it. Time is running out. We should therefore think of alternatives
that can protect the legitimate interests of hundreds of thousands of pre-registrants
who have invested their time, money and hopes in good faith and, see nothing but
bleak scenario unfolding before their eyes. I am proposing following , not
to score any point, but to help find a solution that may be acceptable:(1)Let
sunrise period run the way it is proposed by Afilias.
(2)Let landrush period run
the way it is proposed except that unsuccessful pre-registrations, instead of being
discarded should be held in separate queues.
(3)Let 120 days challenge round run
the way it is proposed.
(4)Let Afilias challenge the unqualified (fraudulent) registrations
after challenge round.
(5)Pool the names released from 120 days challenge round
as well as Afilias challenges.
(6)Now, run the unsuccessful pre-registrations from
startup period (read(2)above)exactly the way startup period was run i.e. randomize
the queues and allot pooled names in round robin fashion.
