Subject: Actually, "coke" vs. "Coke" was considered by ICANN

See the ICANN "Working Group B" report on IP protection which was issued before the Sunrise policy was approved.  There were wide differences of opinion on how to offer Intellectual Property rights to trademark holders, and the "coke" (fuel) vs. "Coke" (beverage) issue was one that was specifically cited in these discussions.

But, unfortunately, what we ended up with was the current Sunrise fraud quagmire.  It is evident that the Sunrise policy was experimental, and we are the guinea pigs in the experiment.  The experiment failed, or at least made the patients sick (a lot of collective puking in this forum!), but the results of this experiment won't benefit the ".info" domain; only other future gTLD's that are introduced such as ".shop" or ".travel".

So all that we, the Public ".info" registrants, can do is to take our medicine and hope for the best.  But wouldn't it be nice to have a spoonful of sugar with our medicine?  Please Afilias, sweeten the deal for the Land Rush applicants!

Thank you.
