The official name, well lets call it the conical
name, is just a dot (.) Some also refer to it as the DNS root. The A Root server, refering
to a.root-servers.net is a box run by VeriSign that happens to feed the other
*.root-servers.net machines.There are more alternat roots than the ORSC, which
is a organization(?) that runs a piticular set of alternate root servers.
