This is a snippet from a press release dated 8/15/01.....If this is how it is going to be there will be some terrible backlash come landrush day (9/15/01):

"Under the plan announced today, Afilias will allow the Challenge Process to take its course, enabling legitimate trademark owners to obtain their names. If suspicious names remain, they will be reviewed for challenge directly by Afilias. If successfully challenged, they will be equitably returned to public availability after the completion of the Sunrise Challenge period. "

For one I cannot believe this is happening.  Fraud, needs to be dealt with swiftly and justly.  It is not helping this Sunrise one bit to delay the succesful registration under the landrush guidelines.  If these names are allowed to linger, waiting for you to challenge, the individuals could either sell the domain, or anything he or she wants.  Will Afilias address this.  If you don't the validity of the entire process is pretty much awash.  As one would have to wait for a domain to be finally challenged (if succesfully ???) and then released.  How is someone supposed to know that the "new" owner hasn't produced a phony TM.  To cleanse this system, you need to dump those Fraud registrants, and let the landrush process begin.  Several thousand dollars have been spent "requesting" some of these domains.
