I think Afilias would not even
begin to gather even half of these domains if it weren't for someone to be a focal
point, whereby someone can send this information. Afilias has to look partial
in this matter. Also if Afilias thought the "internet challenge" was doing
something harmful Richard would have gotten a "cease and desist" order. He
is very specific that he is not passing judgement on these domains. I also
agree with you that this style of Sunrise cannot continue in future rollouts.
The entire English language would become trademarked. The Digital Divide would
increase because poorer nations would not have any kind of chance to register a domain
for a reasonable cost. As it is right now a Trademark is about $400 USD, and
the domain itself is $35 per year. Gregory
