I got the same alldomains.com email. And yet read the following paragraphs
from an Afilias email to registrars, which explains the TRUE intent of the additional
24-hour period:"We have been made aware that many of you experienced problems
connecting to the Registry at the close of the Sunrise Period. As a result
you may not have been able to submit all of your .INFO Sunrise registrations prior
to the scheduled close. In an effort to ensure fairness and equity to all of
our registrars and their customers, Afilias will open the registry for additional
Sunrise Period submissions for a limited time to accept Sunrise registration requests
that were validly awaiting submission to Afilias by a registrar prior to 04:00 UTC
on August 28th, 2001.
"It is important to emphasize that only registration requests
that were pending submission to Afilias as of 4:00 am UTC on August 28th are eligible
for this limited opportunity, and you will be asked to warrant that fact with respect
to any requests submitted to Afilias during this extended period."
I can just imagine
millions of Afilias-personnel scrupulously reviewing all these warranties.
Just like they did all the generic Sunrise registrations.
