The analysis done by DomeBase
and TheInternetChallenge will be beneficial to Afilias when determining which and
how many names to challenge. Though InternetChallenge has 1900 suspicous names listed
there are about 50,000 Sunrise registrations. So the Afilias estimate of less than
10% fraud does appear to be right. I realize that more names are being added every
few days to his site but that has really slowed down as of late. Also, a lot of names
on his list are just errors by the registrars or registrations that were not filled
out completely or where mistakes were made, not actual fraud. Some names on his list
actually look to be legitimate and he has put them up there for frivolous reasons
- it looks like he lists any name submitted to him without checking the details probably.
