"Though InternetChallenge has 1900 suspicous names listed there are about 50,000 Sunrise registrations. So the Afilias estimate of less than 10% fraud does appear to be right." Maybe 10% has been taken by fraudsters who just hoped to resell ( / take advantage of the traffic until they're kicked off). But I'd bet another 10% is people who don't have a valid trademark but thought they might as well apply for a name they'd like for their business. And it's worth noting that although fraudsters may only have taken 20% of the names, these will be the valuable ones so they probably took 75% of the value.
