Subject: looks like a purge - advice from domaindiscount24

The following is one of two emails from domaindiscount24 which greeted me at 5.30 am Brisbane time.

The para that says it all is this one -

"These domains will be released by Afilias for registration at a later time and can then be registered normally."

Also seems that if you are not successful in Landrush, you will have to ask for you 50% deposit back and I don't remember agreeing to pay half of the two year registration cost prior to the draw. See para (b) of second element of the following mail.

We really will have to push for clear and enforced ethical rules/laws for the conduct of registrars - when the judiciary shakes some monkeys from the ICANN tree.

These bastards - has there ever been a crew of cut-throats who deserved a kicking more than them?

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

please find enclosed a brief status report on your .info
pre-registrations with

The following domains have already been registered by a third party
(another registrar) during the Sunrise-Period:

Obviously some of the Sunrise Registrations were executed, even though
the trade mark information and date of trade mark registration was
incorrect. These domains will be released by Afilias for registration at a later time and can then be registered normally.

You also have the possibility of a so-called "Sunrise Challenge" (liable for costs). This means that you can have the WIPO (World Interlectual Property Organizsation) check registered domains and their trade mark information. Please find more details to this procedure under: and

We will submit the following .info pre-registrations to Afilias on
September 12th 2001:

You will receive a pre-invoice concerning 50% of the total invoice for
your .info pre-registrations.

Please note that the dead-line for the submission of these domains to
Afilias is September 12th 2001.

You will receive the results of the dispatching (through Afilias)
between September 12th and 19th 2001.

a.) Should your registration be successful, then you will receive a
second invocie concerning the remaining 50%.
b.) Should your registration however not be successful, then we will
transfer the paid amount to your user-account, where you can either keep it for future domain registrations or have it refunded to your bank account.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at or give us a call at +49 / 6826 / 52 41 70.

With kindest regards,

Your team @
