...Once control falls to the academics and government administrators, we as
free-market enterprisers are screwed. "Better the devil you know(business), than
the devil you don't (academic and gov)." Where do you draw the line? excellent
question. what about the countless low population towns etc. such as Amboy, Goffs,
etc etc etc. And the endless variability? Oh, the registrars will LOVE these
restrictions.. Now they have to give all these names away for much less than a consumer
would pay for them. Shame. I think the registrars better do some damage control
and lobby ICANN back into shape,eh? Before ICANN spreads like a virus into cities
and counties. THAT would sufficiently hurt the registrars, and a lot of business
minded individuals and web developers. Fotr the most part, decent web development
of these sites is better than NOTHING, which is what will result if ICANN continues
along this line further... The idea is to expand and let the internet grow; not
suppress it.
