A long time ago, I pre-registered "insurance.biz", couldn't
get any more generic than that. Needless to say NeuLevel has advised me last week
that there are five current IP (intellectual property) claims lodged against that
name (translate just go away and die you pest). The only trademark that I know
off is for a cosmetics brand of all things and then of course there are the hybrids
i.e. "best insurance" or "the honest to God insurance company" etc. etc. What this
means is that you can kiss any generics goodbye because in essence anyone with a
hint of resemblance will file for and probably (based on WIPO's track record) get
that name. That is to say that if you are considering "applepie.biz", you have
to probably plead your case against farmers, computer companies and a popular singer
by the name "Fiona Apple".. The fun never ends in ICANN-Land, please
come again and bring lotsa cash.....
