My experience with Registrars charging for domains beforehand is as follows:1)
Namescout.com - Email notice of their decision to charge credit cards before they
submit their lists.
2) VI.net - suddenly decided to charge $5 per .INFO domain
they submit, at least they warned of this and required authorization. Good job there.
3)
EarlyBirdDomain.com - changed from a 'free' pre-registration service to $1 per .INFO
domain, as well as requiring pre-payment. This company also required authorization
for this prepayment - Good Job in at least that respect.
---> It is utterly
annoying that registrars who advertise that they only "charge for successful registrations"
attack their customers credit cards beforehand. This is completely misleading
and totally unacceptable, especially if no notice of this is given beforehand.
