Subject: Domain "value"

You're operating with a mindset where the only "value" of a domain is as a way to draw random type-in traffic.  That's not the only purpose to a domain (and it's not even the purpose for which domain names were invented in the first place).  Some people just want a domain name in order to give a stable, logical address to whatever they're putting online.  They don't expect people to type in their address at random without having heard of it, though they might want an address that's sensible and memorable enough so people will know how to get back there once they do discover it.  And the stuff they're putting online may or may not have anything to do with making money... maybe they're just interested in expressing their personality, or being creatively artistic, or providing useful information about a topic of interest.  There are lots of things people are doing with the Internet and with domain names than speculating to try to make a buck by snaring the random type-ins of clueless newbies.
