It's not the sunrise period for trademark owners that's been extended (that phase
ended long before the World Trade Center attack, even with the extra 24 hours added
to it due to technical glitches). The landrush was extended and reduced to
a single queue instead of two. The October date cited in the article for the
beginning of public registrations is simply the date when regular, real-time, first-come,
first-served registrations begin. This follows the queue processing, which
is open to all landrush preregistrants, not just trademark holders.
