I also agree with you about the horrible business implications for Afilias of letting so many Sunrise squatters sit on the best names for 6 months... They will not invest much to develop them while they are waiting to see if they are challenged or not.  If you take the best names out of development for 6 months, this is a critical hole at a time of establishing credibility for the extension.  Having said this, I think that there is such underlying merit to the .info extension that it may still prosper. Also, the moment that Afilias adopts something like the DomeBase Proposal and announces a Land Rush II, this will set in motion a postive chain reaction which will help promote .info in a more positive light.
