I have always said - Sunrise is bull* propaganda.

THOUSANDs of new open TLDs will not solve any problem - even if every one has 'Sunrise Period'.

It will not solve 'consumer confusion', 'trademark conflict' or stop anybody 'passing off'.

Thousands of trademarks using word 'Apple' have no guarantee of being able to use name.

Apple computers will still protect and make claim to every Apple.[anything] - even though they share word with 727 others in the USA alone (plus all those in 200+ countries).

What use is Sunrise - if they do not check trademark?

Having knowledge of these things - I can see only one logical conclussion - somebody please tell me if they can substantiate different view:

This was not lack of due care, any first year programmer knows you have to validate data entry.

They had much time time to plan this and did not do any simple checks even.

Are you all blind?

It is because they wanted fraudulent registrations, to get maximum profits.

It is entirely the fault of the authorities and Afilias.

Why blame those who commit fraudulent registration? - crooks who do what comes naturally.

Look to the root corruption of the problem - ICANN and Afilias.
