Subject: It is a big racket

IT is quite obvious to me, the reason why the legal profession and others (WIPO etc.) do not want the trademark problem solved is they are making a lot of money from these challenges.

Corporations get to stop others using the same words that they share with hundreds of other businesses - an abuse of their trademark.

e.g. Caterpillar Tractors get world rights to 'cat' - a word they share with 1746 'cat' trademarks in the USA alone.

An abuse that the United States Department of Commerce are quite willing to let continue - even though there is a solution.

Not forgetting, it stops everybody using these words of course. Logically, I believe DoC are in on the racket, else they would stop this violation of First Amendment.
