Was that size did indeed matter. Two of the worst as far as I could tell were the two that had the largest queues: Register.com by virtue of its popularity Tucows, because they aggregated lists from some 20 or more re-sellers AAAQ had probably the best value for money in terms of success. In hind sight if I only pre-registered with them and saved all the money I threw around at other low-probability registrars, I would have been much better off.
