I don't think are driven by wanting to help the internet community. I think they're just another money-grabbing monopoly outfit. They charge more to register their names that can't be seen by most people, than the cost of registering the ICANN names which can be seen all over.

Plus they've over done it on the number of domains. If you have too many, it's hard remembering which ending the domain was as well as the name itself, since many businesses could fall into several categories.
