Message just received from an Afilias registrar. "Unfortunately we have not been
able to process the application for
this domain name as the name has been taken
already. As you know
domain names are issued on a first come first serve
basis which means
that this situation (although very rare) can occur as the whois
data
we use to check registrations can be up to 24 hours out of date for
certain
domains."
