I hate to say this... but you are going to experience this no matter WHAT top level
domain you try to buy into! They only way you could have had "free reign" to choose
whatever name you wanted is if you started requesting domain names in .com back in
1991-1992. But, Image Online Design has about 20,000 registrations. Compare this
to Network Solution's .com where every possible word in the English language (and
then some) are all taken. I would like to see Image Online Design's .web TLD added
to the root server. But, that is only the tip of the iceberg! We can solve this problem
of "artificial scarcity" by creating HUNDREDS of new top level domains! Why just
stop with 6 or 10? Why not HUNDREDS of new ones! This way if you didn't find the
name you were looking for you could go somewhere else. The policy of artificial
scarcity that is put in place by ICANN and VeriSign only benefits one group --- THEM!
They are the only ones making money off this system.
