I was able to register some generic .info names in the so called "landrush"
phase. Today, I got the follwoing e-mail regarding one of the names (a proper locality
name; i.e. city/county):Dir Sir,
I am the CIO of ******* Capital LLC.
We own the *******.com domain and trademarks dating back to 1994. Due to some
incompetence on the part Network Solutions our request for the *******.info domain
was not
processed. While we believe we have a strong case for forcibly
obtaining
*******.info we would rather avoid a messy legal conflict.
To reimburse
you for costs relating to transferring the domain to us we are willing to pay you
a one time fee of $500. This offer is valid until October 31, 2001 at which
point I will be forced to turn the matter over to our legal department. If
you have any questions regarding this matter feel free to contact me directly.
Regards,
*******
(Seems to be a pretty big company)
Any advice for the novice
and now "poor" (already lost quite a bit in .info pre-registration fiasco) speculator?
Any
referral to a competent, affordable IP attorney if it comes to that?
