Dots, spaces and hyphens can be ignored according to Afilias' sunrise rules, however I think the issue with S.M.A.R.T really is whether J&J do own a TM in Bolivia?!

They claim they have a TM here: http://www.jnj.com/news_finance/46.htm with their use of 'TM' after S.M.A.R.T. However one would think that being a US company that they would get a US TM. A check in the USPTO shows no such mark belonging to them, although it may be a New Jersey only mark that they are refering to.

It's important to note that it's illegal to use the TM sign after a mark that isn't actually trademarked, so surely the J&J team with all their legal advisors would know this.

Perhaps they put Bolivia as the TM country in the domain record because they knew that no Bolivian TM repository exists online.

My 2cents, anyway.

Cheers
Dave
