There are certain sectors in our economy where real competition doesn't exist.  Right now it's in the domain service industry.  Net Sol provides crappy service (in my honest opinion) because they can....It's until real competition comes into the fold before you start seeing any real change in the industry here in the US....

I am hoping Afilias can get it together (to make it's brand) more powerful, and thus provide some threat to dot com....Unfortunately Afilias is an entrenched player, and may not try to do that...My advice to them would be to break free from Net Sol, et al, and become a bona-fide competitor.....

One thing you as a consumer can do is provide information to others (factually) about which registrar deserves our attention (and money)....In reality though you and I will not be able to do it alone...It takes a majority of the population to make bad companies accountable...
