I remember we had this long thread back then when I was arguing strongly against over-lapping extensions!?

What nobody wants to think about is the fact that what New.Net is proposing is nothing more than a big scam.

We don't have to look further than fishery licenses (e.g. what happened in Atlantic Canada in the late 80s). The government started selling Halibut licenses and people were falling head over heels to get their hands on one. There was even a brisk secondary market with ridiculous sums changing hands. Lo and behold everyone wakes up one day to discover that that Atlantic Halibut has been almost completely depleted. Took a fishing moratorium that lasted 7 years just to get the population back from the edge of extinction.

Unrestricted gTLDs will have the exact same effect. Sometimes I wonder about how easy people can aim a gun at their feet!!!!!!
