Wall Street TLD trend analysis |

Nasdaq VRSN is getting beat up over the
fact there was about a 300,000 decline in com/net/org zone file generation.
Actually, they are getting beat up over the trend this represents. It is relatively
for certain that new zone file generation to the legacy root actually increased as
a result of the new TLD's that launched during this same period. This seems to
be a pretty clear "proof-of-concept" indication of consumer choice and demand i.e.
a consumer push to the new product lines as well as such an immediate impact (the
first such decline to the com/net/org zones in Internet history - what a coincidence).
At least this is what the Wall Street experts seem to be indicating and reporting.
This is the same as saying that these experts believe there will be content development
behind the new TLD's - otherwise this would be considered more of a one time occurrence
and not a trend. Ray
