        For the life of me, I can't understand why someone would risk so much money to obviously register a name where they don't own a TM. It's just too risky.

First of all,  you can be sure that people (like us) will check up on them (which might explain why diabetes.info and medical.info has had subsequent challengers). Plus, a friend of mine (an IP lawyer) even had a phone call from the WIPO in Switzerland verifying his identity AND another potential challenger emailed him asking for proof of his TM. He faxed this woman a copy of the TM certificate to avoid having to shell out another $295 to WIPO to prove that he owned it (albeit refunded when he was vindicated).

If these guys want to give money away, give it to the Red Cross instead!
