Every registrar submitted all
of their names at once. Afilias shuffled each registrar's list and then picked the
first name from each registrar's list, then the second name from each registar's
list, and so on and so on in round robin fashion. The number of domains submitted
varied greatly from registrar to registrar. The big guys probably submitted many
tens of thousands of names. Thus if you applied for a name with a big registrar and
the same name with a registrar that submitted a smaller list, statistically you would
be more likely to get the name through the smaller registrar. G.
