This has been the most debated
topic on this forum. It may not be possible to arrive at the total certainty
as to which or which are not the generic words, there is fair amount of consensus
as to what constitutes a generic word. I believe when a trademark is granted
for a generic name, it is granted subject to the condition that trademark holder
does not have exclusive right that generic word. If this is the treatment given
to trademark holders in their own realm with regard to generic names why should registries
or ICANN go out of their way to placate trademark lobby and give inequitable preference
to trademark holders in registration process. This is like being more
loyal than the king! No offence to DaveKing2 :-)Amar
