      The original rules allowed a successful challenger to register the name under the original Sunrise rules (which means with a registered trademark).  Unfortunately, the rules weren't enforced any better than the original Sunrise registrations (even worse - they didn't even require the entry of any trademark info, and the only way to see from the WHOIS that they were originally Sunrise names is to look at the original date.)

Time will tell whether all the wrongs will be righted, and by the time we know the answer, it will be too late for an "independent" challenge.
