I am excited by what has happened at this forum in the last day or two. I feel
we are participants in a wonderful chapter of the story of the internet - a chapter
which does include some tragedies such as the ICANN "management" of the DNS as evidenced
by the events of the .info and then .biz launches - but a chapter none the less that
will see a new extension made popular and changes to the way people look for info
and use SEs. Despite the fact that Afilias - the 18 registrars - made a killing
with the Sunrise registration of 10,000 Landrush 1 names for which they had spent
months selling Landrush 1 preregistrations - they seem to have lost interest in advertising
their product - may be saving their advertising budget for another Bono bash. As
it is apparent that neither ICANN nor the registries will fulfill their promises
- we will have to do the establishment on .info ourselves. The very best of luck
to all the pioneers - heaven knows we deserve a some luck having been through what
we have with the .info and .biz launches.
