I have become pessimistic about the future of things that ICANN and/ or governments in general are involved in. I hate to say it, but I don't expect any changes in the management of the DNS to make it more accountable, or give more of a say to the public. If the DNS does change hands, it is probably because those who have been pulling strings all along want direct control of it, even at the expense of removing the layers of deniability they have enjoyed under the old facade.
