Non-ASCII characters |

The main problem is compatibility : older programs (and there are a lot of them !)
won't know how to parse and display these characters, most likely leading to the
impossibility to access. Even newer programs will have trouble accessing sites
whose name includes undisplayable characters. Remember that most (all ?) Western
or European software and operating systems cannot handle Far East characters. In
such a situation it will be impossible to have, for example, English and Chinese
web pages on a site using Chinese characters in the URL. It will be impossible to
send an e-mail to a person or company that uses non-ASCII characters in the address,
even if the message body is written in English.
