I do not think ICANN should be in the business of protecting trademarks.  A simple way to cut down on cyber-squating is to change the pricing of domain names.  If the first domain registered to an entity (person or business) cost say $10, and the price for each additional domain increased exponentially ($100 for second, $1,000 for third, $10,000 for fourth etc.) then few entities would have the resources to cyber-squat.
