Well, the effort of the European Community to get
the TLD .eu for Europe looks like the right way. On the first view...
General question:
If
there are several new TLDs to show the (web-)site category will there be a use for
country-dependant TLDs any more?
Points of interest:
- take a short look to
the number of registered .us domains
- is the internet globally or country related?

is the use of a country-dependant TLD a warranty for getting information in the country's
language? No matter what service (HTTP, FTP, Mail ...) is provided by this domain?

is HTTP the only service used on the internet? And should new TLDs be web-centric?
