In the ultimate irony, while many have been complaining about missing the .web "landgrab"
(if there really was one), a REAL landgrab HAS BEEN occurring. In the last 5 days
since pricing for .TV domains was dropped from $1000 for the first year to $100 (
suddenly making them affordable to all) thousands of incredibly valuable and meaningful
domains have been registered. With the convergence of WEB and TV (e.g. Microsoft's
WEBTV and AOL's AOLTV ), one does not have to be rocket scientist to see that .WEB
and .TV domains are arguably the most valuable and sensical, at least with respect
to generic TLD'S - (although I know .TV technically isn't one.)
If there is a
moral here . . it is that splendid opportunities rarely present themselves to ALL,
rather they have to be found by the few, the hungry, the alert. Of course, for some,
participating in this forum and reading this message might make you . ."alert"???
:-)
