Q31: Clearly ICANN has put forth considerable
effort in supporting the interests of Trademark Holders. The issue has to
some extent driven the process of expanding the existing number of TDL’s. In expanding
the types of TDL’s available there exists an opportunity to act preemptively
in addressing the further needs of the Intellectual Property Community.
A
TDL which designates Patents and Copywritten material as unique and subject to special
consideration with regard to proliferation and sale would prove to be extremely
beneficial in the interest of expanding commerce on the Internet.
