I wonder how many of you here voted for the people who run ICANN ?
Fair to say, NONE. How is this representation?
Upon my review I have found ICANN to be opposite of what they are supposed to be in almost every single way. They have acted like gods, who have had to answer to no one. Network Solutions being forced to open up to other registers was really having half the battle won, sure it was beneficial to the regular internet user as prices have come down, however it has really enriched other registers and ironically NSI has made even more money!!!
The real heart of the matter lies in access to the Root Server!!!!
In my opinion many people had thought that the ICANN would be the white knight riding in to save the people from the evil NSI yeah right!! what we have now is a more powerful regime that has done nothing but enslave the internet population!!!
Listen world, The time to wake up is now!!!!!
I found a considerable amount of information on all this from many sources here is one

Here is an alternative DNS which by the way lists the writings of many  who you might recognize that are critical of the situation.

I found it all very enlightening and so shall you.

PS. it is really sad and frustrating that we have to sit here and beg these people to do what should have been done years ago. Think about it though, billions of dollars were at stake for NSI and they couldn't take the chance of real competition from the likes of a .web or.shop etc. They have .com entrenched now so I figure now we should see the additional gTLD's
