Q1.
Organizations
should propose Registry models to be considered by ICANN and ICANN should then choose
the most appropriate.
There should be several Registries For example, one in
Europe, one in Asia, one in Latin America and the NSI Registry in the USA
All these
Registries should be equally capable of registering new TLDs.
Q2 and Q3
The
Registry should have a test period of 3 months. All accredited ICANN Registrars should
be able to connect during the test period for the volume.
Q4 The number should
not matter.
Q5 None
Q6 No, users will find this too confusing
Q7.
The Registry undertaking the initial work should be remunerated for the software
and time spent, if it is decided to change the Registry.
All data should be kept
in an escrow by ICANN from the beginning so that such a transition would be seamless.
Q8 and Q9
New GTLDs should have the same success opportunity as Dot COM.
Q10.
CCTLDs have proved to be too restrictive.
Q11.
The lesson
learnt is that a TLD cannot be restrictive.
Q12.
If the registry models are
efficient, a limited number will not minimise the risk to internet stability. Each
registry should be able to cope with several TLDs.
Q13.
The constituencies
should reach an agreement on the TLDs to be introduced.
Each constituency should
propose TLDs that it wants to be introduced.
One constituency should not be able
to oppose the proposals of another constituency.
Q14
There should be a fixed
time limit established for the evaluations.
Q15 and Q16
If each constituency
proposes a new TLD or TLDs, this process will automatically take into account the
feasibility and utility of different types of new TLDs.
Efficient Registries should
be able to handle the different TLDs.
Registrar functions and institutional structures
for the formulation of Registration and operation policies within the TLD are already
in place and can be used for new TLDs.
Q17
Yes
Q18
Yes, diverse registry
services will increase competition
Q19
No
Q20 and Q21
Yes, as agreed
upon by the constituencies
Q22
If left open, there will be the same opportunities
as in Dot COM.
Q23
Respect the Rule of 1st come 1st served
Q24
New
TLDs will be more effective competition to Dot COM than Registrations on the basis
of a 3rd level Registry
Q25
Yes
Q26
No
Q27
The registries
should be capable of understanding the IPV4 and IPV6 protocols
Q28
There
should be a light charter system meaning, for eg. that the user knows .shop is
for online transactions and he must have the necessary structure to register under
.shop.
This poses a problem for .COM in that it too should have some kind of light
charter meaning commercial promotions and commercial communications.
Q29
Added
to these should be the agreement that when using .SHOP there is a secured form of
online payment, or .BANK a secured access for online banking.
Q30
No
Q31
TLDs
related to the economy for eg. .Shop, bank, bus (biz)
Q32
If each constituency
proposes TLDs and there is an agreement/consensus this will lead to a pre-defined
system.
Q34
No
Q35
No answer
Q36
In all cases provided that
the organizations belong to a constituency
Q37
Organizations should be established
for at least 3 years
Q38
No answer
Q39
The same general rules for
TLDs should apply
Q41 and Q48
A domain name is a global communication vehicle
it has the global right of use is has no ownership rights and as such is universal.
As
a global communication vehicle, it cannot define trademark characteritics which at
present are not universal.
A Tld indicates to users a group of domain names that
have a particular function :
Eg .shop for commercial use
.net for networks
Individual
protection is not possible. Internet via the DNS cannot solve the problem inherent
to TM.
A way of satisfying this diffrence would be better public information and
education by using LABELS for DNS.
Q49
Decision announcement should be made
after the election of the new ICANN board.
Q52
There should be a testbed
period Registry / Registrar for 3 months with the same opportunity for all registrars
without pre-registration.
Q54
They should be chosen by the constituencies
Q55
Minimum of 3 Then there is no conflict with the ISO 3661-1
Q56
Yes,
there should be restrictions
Q57
Only the English language
Q58
Depends
on the decision of the constituencies
Q59
Open unrestricted TLDs
Q60
No
Q61
Those decided upon by the constituencies
Q62 and Q65
ICANN does
not need to specify what is required. This should be left to the appropriate constituencies
to decide in consultation with ICANN.
Q66
1 million dollars
Q67
Yes,
non profit / low price business models
Q68
The registry whois should be more
qualitative
Q69
Support IPV4 and IPV6 protocols
Q70
No answer
Q71

every accredited registrar can connect at the same time.
Q72
In contrast
to open TLDs, sponsored, chartered registered TLDs should be adequately labelled
