While I agree that its current devolution under NSI has
been detrimental to the objectives of the .org domain, I have an issue with restricting
registrants in .org to "non-profit corporations." There are plenty of legitimate,
non-commercial organizations within the .org domain that have neither the financial
resources nor the interest to formally incorporate -- and it would be tragic to shut
them out of .org just for that reason. Perhaps a better criteria, a "middle
ground" if you will, would be a "formal association of multiple persons, not all
of whom are related to one another, for non-commercial purposes" -- it's a MUCH easier
criterion to meet than "non-profit corporation," yet still protects the spirit of
the .org domain.
