While the goal of regulating
domain name usage into the intended areas is laudable, this method is fundementally
flawed. Achieving recognizable Non-Profit status is no simple task. Requiring
Non-Profit status is not a viable substitute for the real goal of removing commercial/profit
driven entities from the .org domain. The requirement for Non-Profit status should
be removed. A new requirement for removing commercial/profit driven entities
from the .org domain should be developed.
