That's the trouble that I see... they *can't* grandfather in all the
non-complying
domains or else it defeats the purpose of the restriction.I like the idea of strict
control in that it helps the TLDs make sense by
restricting them to groups that
mean what they're supposed to. However,
.org has been or become a miscellaneous
category, and under the new
restrictions there is no such category.
There's
a substantial enough crowd of folks that are organizations but are
neither commercial
nor non-profit that .org in the 'loose' state that it currently
exists serves
a useful purpose that no other TLD does-- it serves
'organizations'.
