I don't disagree, but last time I visited NSI/VeriSign, when you wanted to register blah.com, it also tried to encourage you to register blah.org and blah.net.

I'm sure lots of people bought into the NSI marketing-speak (how dare they sell "web addresses"? sheesh) and registered .org because NSI encouraged them to; so NSI/VeriSign/ICANN is responsible for a part of the abuse that they're now complaining about.
