I registered by 'tthew.org' two years ago (for the email
address 'm@tthew.org', although it's not currently being hosted anywhere), believing
that I had a right to the name on the "first come, first served" basis of registration.
There
was no mention of Non-Profit Organisations back then, and there shouldn't be now.
Here
in the UK, all domains "*.ltd.uk" are available *only* to limited companies who are
registered at Companies' House, so I don't see why "*.npo" can't be available *only*
to registered charities, etc.
If the registrars can police the allocation of "*.ltd.uk",
they can also police allocations of "*.npo".
'Nuff said.
