ORG was never intended to be limited to non-profit organizations (see the many citations
to RFC-1591 and mine to RFC-920), and in the many years I've had SF-Bay.ORG (since
1989) I've never had to "prove" any sort of non-profit status. I also disagree
that "transitioning" existing .ORG domains to a new gTLD is reasonable - ICANN does
not posess the power of eminent domain, and forcing a move on people would be a "taking"
of an asset, regardless of whether it's nominally property or not. How much
is 11-1/2 years of being findable at the same address worth, anyway?
