In the context of the digital revolution that is taking place
in the new century, the ownership, control and use of cyber space is very crucial
for removal of poverty environmental degradation and peace . As such in the bid for
.org we support POPTEL and Unity Registry for the following reasons.
* to offer
a stable transition of the registry. Unity Registry has experience of transitioning
a large country registry, .au to the new operator AusRegistry.
* Poptel has a
great deal of experience working with the not for profit sectors - nearly 20 years
- and an excellent plan to promote .org and differentiate it from the other commercial
top level domains.
* Unity Registry has plans to create a user cooperative of
.org registrants is very popular with non-profit organisations and offers a real
opportunity to take charge of the policy of the registry and an ownership stake in
its operation. As representative of IIRD which is a premier environmental NGO
working in central India we strongly support Unity Registry in gaining control over
.org which would be benevolent to humanity
