[ISOC received the below letter of support, which it presents to ICANN.]From:

Subject: Support for ISOC bid for .ORG Management
I am writing
you to support the Internet Society's (ISOC) bid to manage the ORG registry. Of the
eleven bidders, this organization is clearly the most likely to commit itself to
not only ensuring the effective technical and fiscal administration of this critical
tasking, but also ensure that the ORG domain remains a destination on the Web where
free speech is respected and upheld.
The ISOC has in the past, and continues to
be, a regulating voice external of government or corporate interests that believes
in and works towards an open, accessable Internet. With a domain comprised
primarily of non-profit advocacy groups, some of whose activities are often targeting
government and corporate interests, the ISOC's independence and strong international
voice is the best fit to ensure the ORG domain remains free of external influences
that might otherwise be allowed to stifle conversations.
I am aware that other
bidders in this process have influential voices calling for their selection, but
I challenge you to ignore them and select the Internet Society to manage the ORG
registry.
Sincerely yours,
Bruce Young
