Dear ICANN Board Members:
On behalf of The Georgia Trust, I appreciate the opportunity
to offer our opinions on the .org registry decision, which is of great concern to
us as a nonprofit organization. The Internet has proven an invaluable tool for spreading
the message of The Georgia Trust to a wider range of audiences and we are extremely
interested in the future of the .org registry domain control. We believe that
only another nonprofit will have our best interests, and knowledge of our limitations,
in mind when managing the buying and selling of domain names for nonprofit organizations.
Without the need to earn a profit or pay corporate taxes, a nonprofit should also
be able to offer the service less expensively, a savings that could be passed along
to the nonprofit community around the world. Since there are qualified organizations
that have submitted proposals, we therefore urge you to consider the proposals of
only the nonprofit organizations bidding for this registry position.
